The Seattle World's Fair opened on this day, fifty years ago, at what is now the Seattle Center. Century 21 Exposition ran for six months, closing on October 21, 1962. The fair had close to 10 million visitors.
I found my Dad's color slides from our visit to the fair in the summer of '62. Here is one of fairgoers, in their early sixties fashions, with the Science Pavilion in the background.
I've been in that setting quite a number of times since 1979, and now, looking at your dad's photo... it has a futuristic grandeur that I never noticed before!

It was all fresh and sparkly new back then.
