mount st. helens

Today is the anniversary of the day Mount St. Helens blew its top, 32 years ago.  In honor of the occasion, here are some 35mm color slides of mine from before the event, when the mountain was still a white-peaked jewel in the Cascade Volcanic Arc.

These photographs of the mountain are actually from quite a while before the 1980 eruption: I took them in the summer of 1971.

How amazing you were there to take the "before" photos, too! It looks so serene, so clean and perfect.
