at hudson point cafe

I sketched this patron at Port Townsend's Hudson Point Cafe while at breakfast this morning.  See M's blog for a sketch of the breakfast.

The feathering/shading effect of the digital color is really nice. This last Monday Jim and I missed the Elements class (due to health issues) where we would've begun learning to use the brush tool. Hope tutorials will catch us up.

I add color in a new layer above the background drawing, using a brush with soft edges and an opacity of around 15 or 30 percent. That way, I can build up color or erase it without disturbing the drawing underneath.

You could even use a layer for each color if you want.

Those a good tips, Roger, thank you! Wouldn't you know it I would miss the class teaching the specific tool I'm so interested in!
